Five claims went round this week. One rests on reporters with a record on the club; the other four do not hold up as they were told once traced to where they started. Each claim below links to the full check, with the dates of the claim and of the verdict.

“Liverpool moved to pay Otorbi's €30m clause, so Valencia raised it to €60m”. Unconfirmed. Two Valencia reporters, and an agent who says Premier League clubs have called; no renewal announced.

“Lewis Hall has decided to join Manchester United in 2027”. Misleading. One unnamed source, six weeks after the player signed a long-term contract at Newcastle.

“Atlético Madrid target Marmoush for 2027”. Misleading. The article that started it says there are no confirmed contacts.

“Al Ittihad have made an official €25m offer for Brahim Díaz”. Misleading. One reporter's line; the word "official" was added by those who repeated it.

“Liverpool ready to pay €90m for Felix Nmecha”. Misleading. The figure has one unnamed source; the credible report says no move is being prepared.

How a verdict is reached is set out on the source grading page.
