"Atlético Madrid target Marmoush for 2027"

The article that started it says there are no confirmed contacts. The headlines that followed dropped that sentence.

Where it started

Fichajes.net, 20 October, Héctor Andreu: Atlético are weighing Omar Marmoush, on loan at Tottenham from Manchester City, as a target for 2027, with Tottenham's €58m purchase obligation the obstacle. The piece names no source and states that there is no confirmation of formal contacts; it describes a market possibility.

What happened next

The Hard Tackle ran it on 21 October as Atlético eyeing a move, and beIN Sports headlined it on 22 October as Atlético targeting Marmoush. The caveat did not survive into either headline.

What was checked

The only document is the deal already done: Tottenham confirmed the loan with an obligation to buy on 28 August, with De Zerbi and Marmoush quoted. Nothing from Atlético, Tottenham, City, the player or his agent touches a move to Madrid.
