Paris Saint-Germain beat Lyon 2-0

Paris Saint-Germain beat Lyon 2-0 in Ligue 1, with second-half substitutes Senny Mayulu and Mika Godts both scoring to send the champions top of the table.

The first half finished 0-0. Lyon defended deep and well, and their goalkeeper Dominik Greif made key saves. Just before PSG scored, Lyon came very close to going ahead when Niakhaté headed a corner towards goal, Safonov got a hand to it, and Godts, who had come on just before the hour, cleared it off the line.

Luis Enrique's changes decided the match. Mayulu came on midway through the second half and scored about six or seven minutes later, giving PSG the lead in the 72nd minute. Lyon pushed for an equaliser late on, and Duranville had a shot blocked by Pacho, before Godts settled it with a quick counter-attack in the 84th minute.

PSG played without Ousmane Dembélé, who was in London for the Ballon d'Or ceremony on the same night.

The win was PSG's fifth in a row in the league and took them to 17 points, top of Ligue 1 on their own after matchday 8, with Stade Rennes moving down from first place. Lyon, who would have gone top with a win, stayed on 14 points and are now fifth.
