The first ten minutes set the tone. Moreira supplied the crosses for Christian Pulisic and Adrien Rabiot, who struck in the fourth and 10th minutes, leaving Inter chasing a game they had barely begun to control.

Alessandro Bastoni's header from a corner in the 22nd minute gave Inter a way back and briefly shifted the pressure onto Milan. But Moreira had one more contribution before the interval, bending a superb free kick over the wall in the 43rd minute to restore the two-goal advantage.

Inter continued to press after the break, but Mike Maignan prevented their pressure from becoming a comeback. His saves against Hakan Çalhanoğlu and Djed Spence kept Milan in control, while a penalty awarded to Inter was overturned after VAR showed the ball had struck Mario Gila on the chest.

The victory gave Milan a fourth consecutive derby win and the response they needed after their midweek defeat by Bologna. For Inter, it was their first league defeat of the season, while Milan climbed into fourth place.
