Liverpool win at Selhurst from a set piece, four days after losing to three
Liverpool conceded from a free-kick, a corner and a long throw in Istanbul on Wednesday, and their first goal at Selhurst Park came from a free-kick of their own. Palace, without a league goal in three matches before kick-off, found one only from the penalty spot in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

Andoni Iraola spent Friday warning about the ball into the box, and on Sunday his side scored from one. Cody Gakpo won a free-kick on the right, Dominik Szoboszlai crossed it, and in the 40th minute Alexis Mac Allister headed it into the middle of the goal. Liverpool won 3-1 at Crystal Palace, and the defeats by Arsenal and Fenerbahce stopped at two.

Palace had their chances first. In the 18th minute Yéremy Pino hit the bar and then had a header saved by Alisson Becker, and two minutes before the goal Alisson saved again, from Daichi Kamada after Tyrick Mitchell's cross. He kept Palace out until the last minute of the match.
Nine minutes after the restart Bradley Barcola crossed and Florian Wirtz, in the centre of the box, put it into the bottom left corner with his right foot. Wirtz made the third as well. In the 89th minute Liverpool broke, his pass found Alexander Isak, and Isak scored from the centre of the box two minutes after Dean Henderson had saved his first attempt.
Palace had lost their previous three league matches without scoring, and the wait lasted into stoppage time. Then Milos Kerkez brought down Darío Osorio in the area, and Eddie Nketiah, on since the 72nd minute, scored the penalty. The last time Palace beat Liverpool at Selhurst, in September 2025, Nketiah had scored the winner in the seventh minute of stoppage time. This one made it 3-1.
Pierre Sage takes Palace into the international break on four league defeats in a row, with 24 goals conceded, and the one goal they scored in those four matches came from the spot with the match already lost.
