Bournemouth won 3-0 at Old Trafford in the Premier League, with goals from Rayan, Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson deepening Manchester United's troubles under Michael Carrick.
The visitors struck twice in five minutes before half-time. On 38 minutes Rayan, unmarked at the far post, volleyed in Justin Kluivert's free-kick. Five minutes later Leny Yoro slipped on the ball and Adrien Truffert passed for Tavernier to slot home. Old Trafford booed at the interval with United 2-0 down.
Evanilson had an earlier goal ruled out for offside when he was one-on-one with Senne Lammens, but he made it 3-0 on 71 minutes. When Lammens rushed off his line for a long ball, Evanilson beat him to it, flicked it past him and finished from a very tight angle into the far top corner.
The build-up was dominated by Carrick's decision to drop captain Bruno Fernandes to the bench after Fernandes publicly criticised his tactics following the 4-1 Champions League defeat to Como. Fernandes did not come on.
United are 16th on 7 points after 8 games, one point above the relegation places, in what NBC Sports calls their worst start to a season in more than 40 years. They have gone eight games without a win in all competitions under Carrick, and it was the first time they had been three goals down at Old Trafford since December 2024, when Bournemouth also did it. Bournemouth move up to 13th on 9 points.
