# Ferencváros bring 20 unbeaten matches to Italy, where they have yet to win away

A fourth straight win would be Ferencváros's first run of four in a major European competition since 1967-68. None of their four European away trips to Italy has ended in a win.

Ferencváros have not lost since July. That is 20 matches, 13 of them won, and the last three have come in this Europa League without a point dropped: 3-1 at Celtic, 2-1 against Viktoria Plzeň and 4-1 against Torreense. The last Ferencváros side to win four in a row in a major European competition went on to win six, on the way to the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup final in 1967-68.

What stands in the way is less Milan's place in the table than their habit at home. Ruben Amorim's side are 24th after defeats by Benfica at San Siro and at Bournemouth, both without a goal of their own, yet they have scored inside the first 25 minutes in each of their last four home matches. Ferencváros have conceded three goals in three Europa League matches.

Milan's own goal has fewer guards. Mike Maignan is suspended after his red card at Bournemouth, which leaves Lorenzo Torriani in line to keep goal behind a defence without Fikayo Tomori or Matteo Gabbia. Amorim said before the match that his side's biggest problem is pressing opponents inside their own area and keeping the ball there, and that the derby win over Inter means little without three points here.

Ferencváros, two points off the top of their league with a game in hand, can afford to lose at San Siro. Milan, in the last place that leads to the play-offs, cannot afford a second home defeat in this competition.

## Our call

Milan should win at San Siro, though probably not with a clean sheet against a side that has scored in all three of its Europa League matches.

## Coming in

Milan beat Inter 3-1 in the derby and are fifth in Serie A, with one defeat in ten league matches. Ferencváros won their last league match 2-0 and are two points behind the leaders Győr with a game in hand.

## Between them

This is the first competitive meeting between the clubs. Milan are unbeaten in four matches against Hungarian sides, with two wins and two draws.

## The hinge

Ferencváros have scored nine goals in three Europa League matches, and Milan meet them without Maignan, Tomori and Gabbia.

## Missing

Milan: Mike Maignan (red card), Fikayo Tomori (thigh), Matteo Gabbia (injury), Alexis Saelemaekers (injury), Samuel Chukwueze (injury), Ruben Loftus-Cheek (injury). Ferencváros: Bence Otvos (knee ligament).

## Line-ups

Lorenzo Torriani starts in goal for Milan, with Christian Pulisic, Luka Modrić and Diego Moreira on the bench. Matúš Bero starts in Ferencváros's midfield after all.
