Sunderland host Leeds United without Kevin Danso as bottom side seek to end four-game league losing run

Bottom-of-the-table Sunderland, beaten in their last four Premier League games, face seventh-placed Leeds United at the Stadium of Light on Sunday, less than 72 hours after their Europa League draw at Lech Poznan. Sunderland are without the suspended Kevin Danso, while Leeds have doubts over Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Anton Stach and Noah Okafor.

Sunderland are 20th with 4 points from 7 games, six points behind Leeds United, who sit seventh with 10 points and two points behind fifth-placed Liverpool. Last season the two were the only promoted sides to stay up, and Sunderland took four points from Leeds. The expected outcome is a Leeds United win in a game of two goals or fewer, with one side failing to score. Stuart Attwell referees, and talkSPORT, as reported by Egypt Telegraph, lists the fixture among four on 25 October that could be affected by Storm Austin.

Leeds United hold a slight advantage in a tight game of two goals or fewer, with one side kept out.

Kevin Danso serves a one-match suspension after his red card at Bournemouth, and Romaine Mundle, Dan Ballard and Thomas Meunier are out, while Wilson Isidor is doubtful, with sources in conflict over whether he will play. Brian Brobbey missed the Lech Poznan game with a hamstring problem, but Régis Le Bris says he should be ready. For Leeds, Joe Rodon and Mateo Joseph are out, and Calvert-Lewin, Stach and Okafor are doubtful. "Our offensive players from the last game are all doubtful," said Daniel Farke, who has named an unchanged team for the last five games. Daniel James is available after a back problem.

Sunderland drew 1-1 at Lech Poznan in the Europa League on Thursday after a 2-0 defeat at Bournemouth, and have scored 6 and conceded 14 in the league. "I am pretty sure we will be rewarded soon," said Le Bris. Leeds drew 1-1 with Manchester United last weekend, Calvert-Lewin scoring the equaliser, and WhoScored says only Arsenal have beaten them this season.

Sunderland have not lost in the last two meetings, drawing 1-1 at home in December and winning 0-1 at Elland Road in March through a Diarra penalty. On Leeds' last visit Calvert-Lewin scored in a sixth consecutive Premier League match. "We want to have revenge from last time we were there," said Gabriel Gudmundsson.
