Marseille’s winning run has not erased Toulouse’s cup triumph at the Vélodrome

Marseille have won three successive league matches, but their four-goal lead against Le Havre almost disappeared. Toulouse arrive unbeaten away this season, while Rafik Messali is out with a thigh injury.

Marseille have found their scoring touch without finding a way to close games. They led Le Havre 4-0 after 55 minutes on Sunday, then conceded three times in the final quarter-hour before winning 4-3. Bruno Genesio said his side had become disunited late on and criticised the commitment of his young substitutes.

Marseille should edge the match with three goals or more and both sides scoring.

That third straight league win followed victories over Angers and Troyes, bringing Marseille to eleven goals across the run. Toulouse have gone five matches without defeat and remain unbeaten away this season, but their goalless draw with Troyes exposed the difficulty of turning possession into goals.

Igor Paixão completed full training after a shoulder injury against Le Havre and is available for selection. Derek Cornelius remains out, while Toulouse have lost Rafik Messali for several weeks after his thigh injury; Sion Oppong has returned to group training, but his availability for Sunday remains unsettled.

Toulouse eliminated Marseille from the Coupe de France at the Vélodrome in March after a 2-2 draw and a 4-3 penalty shoot-out. Marseille won the league meeting in Toulouse three days later, but that cup tie remains a reminder that home advantage alone will not settle this match.
