Celta Vigo host Real Betis in La Liga without Borja Iglesias as Betis miss Cucho Hernández

Celta Vigo, unbeaten in the league since the end of August, meet a Real Betis side looking to recover from a 5-2 defeat by Barcelona at Estadio Abanca Balaídos on Sunday. Celta are without Borja Iglesias and four others, while Betis are missing Junior Firpo and Cucho Hernández, and Facundo Bernal is reported to be suspended.

Round 10 of LaLiga 2026-27 brings fourth-placed Real Betis to Vigo, where Celta are eighth and unbeaten in the league since the end of August. Both sides won in Europe in midweek, and the expected outcome is a Celta win in a match of three goals or more, with both sides scoring. Claudio Giráldez called this Betis probably one of the best in the club's history and said the key would be taking the ball off them.

Celta Vigo have the slightly better chance with both sides scoring and three goals or more in all.

Celta are without Borja Iglesias, Miguel Román, Álvaro Núñez, Carl Starfelt and Jones El Abdellaoui, though Pablo Durán is reported to be available. Giráldez said he had not yet decided his side. Betis are missing Junior Firpo and Cucho Hernández, and Facundo Bernal is reported to be suspended after his dismissal against Barcelona, although one report instead lists him as questionable with a calf injury picked up on 23 Oct.

Celta took only 4 points from their first 18 but have since won two and drawn one of their next three league games, and they won 2-1 at Celtic in the Europa League on Thursday. Their plane home from Glasgow broke down, leaving time for only one training session, which Giráldez said was no excuse. Betis are on 19 points from 9 games and have 9 points from their first 3 Champions League games after beating Feyenoord 1-0, though Manuel Pellegrini warned that midweek European games take a physical toll.

Each side has one win from the last five meetings, and the other three were draws. The most recent ended 1-1 in March 2026, and Giráldez has faced Pellegrini five times, with one win, three draws and one defeat.
