Al-Hilal seek a league response after Al-Shamal defeat as Al-Fateh falter
Al-Hilal return to domestic action after their first defeat in the Asian Champions League Elite, with Simone Inzaghi blaming fatigue for the collapse against Al-Shamal. The Saudi league leaders face an Al-Fateh side sitting 16th, although doubts over the fitness of key midfielders could complicate their response.

Al-Hilal's position at the top of the Saudi Pro League gives them room to absorb a setback, but Tuesday's 3–1 defeat at Al-Shamal was a warning about how quickly their level can drop when the squad is stretched. Inzaghi said fatigue affected his players after half-time; against a struggling opponent at home, the expectation will be an immediate response.
Al-Hilal should return to winning ways in a game with at least three goals, although Al-Fateh may find a way onto the scoresheet too.
Gabriel Martinelli sustained a hamstring injury during the 3–2 league win over Al-Qadsiah. Rúben Neves and Sergej Milinković-Savić travelled to Qatar but were not fit enough to play against Al-Shamal, while Mohammed Mahzari and Crysencio Summerville did not travel; Salem Al-Dawsari returned and completed 90 minutes. Al-Fateh's Ziyad Maher Al-Jari was sent off against Al-Shabab and is expected to face suspension, although I could not verify a current official injury list for the visitors.
Al-Hilal lead with 27 points from ten matches, having scored 30 goals and conceded nine. Al-Fateh are 16th with six points from 11 games, with ten goals scored and 23 conceded. The hosts' latest league outing was a 3–2 win at Al-Qadsiah; Al-Fateh have lost four of their last five league matches and were beaten 3–1 by Al-Shabab in their most recent game.
Al-Hilal won the latest league meeting 1–0 away at Al-Fateh on 14 March 2026, with Sergej Milinković-Savić scoring shortly after half-time. They had also won 2–1 in Riyadh in November 2025, then beat Al-Fateh 4–1 in the King's Cup a week later.
